Lupin is a natural food ingredient with unique functionalities and sustainable growth.
In 2000 we started processing lupins into food ingredients and have therewith been the first producer in the world of the most complete assortment of lupin ingredients and nowadays we still are the leading supplier of lupin ingredients with a strong drive for innovation.
We provide products like protein concentrates, enzyme active flour, toasted flours, bits, grits, and fibres for use in (gluten free) bakery applications, batters, (partial) plant based meat products and nutritional pills & shakes and continuously exploring new applications of this natural food source (See Cases and Innovation).
Why use lupin ingredients?
- Lupins have several functionalities like: whitening, emulsifying, decoration, colouring- and water binding. Lupins can also improve the products’ structure, mouth feel, crispiness, and stickiness. With a natural high fibre and protein content (both 40%) lupins can also contribute to the nutritional value of products.

- Lupins are healthy: they stimulate satiety and have a positive effect on cholesterol,
blood pressure and the bowel function. (see studies under segment news)
- Lupins are ‘green’ and sustainable: they are locally grown throughout several
countries in Europe. The cultivation of lupin needs less pesticides compared to soy
because of their thick and protective seed coat.
- Lupins improve the soil properties because of their nitrogen binding capacity;
which functions as a green fertilizer.
- Non-GMO: no lupin seeds are genetically manipulated.
- Lupins are gluten free
